Busy as a Triple-Booked Bee

As you can see, the schedule has been a bit full as of late, and it shows no sign of letting up any time soon.  Between coloring and lettering a couple Airship Daedalus strips a week, there have been almost nightly Skype teleconferences with production partners and advisers both near and far, a new web series project, revisions to the OA pitch, and end-of-year school events/family plans. 

Kayleigh, Raechelle and I performed our first "gig" as Heartsick on Saturday, as per Raechelle's post.  It was a nice, low-pressure way for Kayleigh to unveil her guitar skills in a public setting.  Afterward, we went to Steve & Steph's to celebrate Steve's birthday and serenade him a bit as well.

The Northern Empires book has been submitted to Amazon for POD, and pending a minor issue with the spine text, should be available soon.  The first proof looked gorgeous.  It's a good addition to the Arrowflight Second Edition line.

Screened The Whisperer in Darkness during SIFF with production partner Landon.  There was a lot to like (especially the lighting and photography).  There were also some questionable choices made (the bane of being a filmmaker is having an opinion on everything).  But overall, another achievement for the HPLHS.

The next few weeks are heavy on the preproduction for the aforementioned web series, as well as nailing down the OA pitch a bit more.  Mad props to high school filmmaking buddy Scott, for his patience and amazing insight on said pitch.  We're fortunate to have his assistance, and grateful for it.  On the web series, we're joined at the producer level by the Gore Sisters, with whom I've worked twice previously.  They did costumes, makeup and props for my music video "On and On", and costumes and props for Darlene Sellers' "Second Season".  They are crazy good at what they do, and their spirit and enthusiasm is infectious.  Really looking forward to doing this project, which I will fill you in on as is appropriate.

Yeah. About That...

What a difference a week makes, no? When last we spoke, I mentioned we thought we'd found a house we could live with. All this might sound like we're settling, because we love a lot about my current house. But it's all about location, location, location. So we're prepared to give up a certain amount of square footage and so forth, as long as the neighborhood is right. Turns out, the home I mentioned was not the one for us.

But, as TFMD mentioned in her post, we found one. After over a year of house hunting, this was the first home we walked into and could immediately see ourselves living there.
It's not ours yet. We're still in the inspection/financing process, but we expect it to go pretty quickly. Halloween (fingers crossed) will be in my first new home in 15 years. A perfect new start for the Celtic New Year.

In the meantime, between back to school, wedding plans and housing, I've been feeling mentally and emotionally besieged, and that has manifested in the usual inward retreat, monosyllabic interactions and a general frowny face. This week has been especially frantic, thus the lack of posting. I'll get back into the swing of things as the schedule smooths out.

And tomorrow, I get to see some friends I've not seen in about three years. Sweet deal!

What a Week

This is what our weeks have become: colored blocks of virtual time management. According to the key to the left, the blue areas are primarily mine, the pink primarily Raechelle's. Some of mine she needs to attend, some of hers I need to attend. We tag-team on the red and orange blocks (Tyler and Kayleigh, respectively), although I'm on the hook for those 80-90% of the time. Just one of the joys of parenting.

Along with being a schedule Nazi.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I kinda look forward to driver's licenses and those first beater cars, and the independence to keep one's own schedule.

"So, a lot has been going on this week," stated Captain Obvious as he knocked back his third shot of tequila.

Speaking of which, we have the Kirby Krackle show tonight, a screening of Moon tomorrow, and lots of house cleaning and organization on Sunday. Sometime in there, I'm gonna try to sleep.
